SugarHouse Casino was the first cross-border brand to launch in the online gambling market of New Jersey. The brand began in neighboring Pennsylvania, where the SugarHouse land-based casino opened on the Philadelphia waterfront in 2010. The curious name stems from the history of their location along the Delaware river, where a sugar refinery existed for more than a century beginning in 1881.
Visit NJ Online Casinos – Compared by Game Count to see a real-time list and graph of the casinos along with how many games they offer in each category.
As I write this, the graphic shows a couple of interesting things. While Golden Nugget remains in the lead for total game count, the fastest mover in the late summer months has been Caesars who have added almost 50 games, just since mid-July.
Betfair shows its usual slow but steady increase, while Resorts and Mohegan Sun deserve the total of most improved. In fact that pair of casinos are in second place overall at the moment, and could well challenge Golden Nugget for the crown soon.
Also notice that the table of current game counts links directly to our game listings at NJOC, where you can see exactly which games are offered at each casino. Click around a bit on the new page and you’ll see what I mean.
Video poker has two big advantages over slot machines.
- You can see exactly how “loose” or “tight” a game is by just comparing paytables.
- Skill matters. If you play video poker correctly, your results will be much better than the average player.
Video poker can be one of the best games in the casino, offering as good a gamble as even the best table games. I am going to take a look at every game available in New Jersey’s online casinos, to see which games are good, and which ones you should avoid.
Mohegan Sun Casino launched in the New Jersey online casino market in July 2015, only a few months after its sister site Resorts Casino debuted in February of that year. As you may guess from the latter brand, both casinos are under the management of Resorts in Atlantic City.
The sites have been consistently adding game titles ever since. The steady increase in game choices illustrates just how competitive the market in NJ has become, and for players, that’s a good thing. Read on for my full review…
He nearly leaped off the screen onto my keyboard. Who? Rich Uncle Pennybags. That’s who.
The name doesn’t ring a bell? Well, you will recognize his picture. He is the iconic figure from Monopoly with a white mustache and black top hat.
I have to admit, there is an undeniable charm to the old fellow. His jumping-for-joy attitude set just the right tone for my leap into the online games at Tropicana.
It’s the kind of hand all gamblers dream about…
On February 14th at New Jersey’s Betfair Casino, a high-rolling patron won an astounding $1.52 million dollars on a single hand. The player is a man from Union County, whose name has not been released.

Almost a year has passed since the launch of online gambling in New Jersey, and as I predicted, the casinos have continued to improve their products by expanding the numbers of available games.
At the time of my original review of Betfair, they were top-notch when it came to game inventory. In the months since, they have continued to add games and their total offering remains among the best in NJ.
Golden Nugget still tops our game list here at NJOC, with more games on offer than any other competitor in the market. But the field is gaining fast, and this could be the year that their lofty perch is contested.
Regular readers will know my opinion here. For online gaming, variety is key, and the Nugget really delivers. Any gambler should find his favorite games well represented here. More game choices just means more fun, and for now, the Golden Nugget is all that.
Caesars Entertainment has three different products in the New Jersey online casino market. The flagship Caesars casino is the most extensive, while the Harrahs and 888 sites both use the more limited software technology from the 888 brand.
Caesars is one of the best known brands in Atlantic City, and the Caesars online casino is among the most popular of the licensed and regulated online casinos in New Jersey. Tied for most video poker games in the state, and in a healthy second place for table games offered, Caesars is definitely a competitive offering.
